The Interactive Intelligence specialization acknowledges that a key component of human-level intelligence is the drive to be interactive. That is, intelligent agents, to include humans, seek out opportunities to interact and communicate with other intelligent agents. This drive supports intelligence and encourages learning. Research in this specialization seeks to understand how to build autonomous agents that must live and interact with large number of other intelligent agents, to include humans. Focus is on intelligent systems that are immersive, expressive, socially-aware, knowledge-driven, grounded, adaptive, robust, and interactive. Central technical issues are adaptive modeling, especially activity discovery (as distinct from activity recognition); and scalable interaction, including coordination and influence.

Master of Science, Computer Science, College of Engineering, Virginia Polytechnic Institute - NCR Campus, VA. Incomplete.
Research Topics: Software Engineering; Domain Engineering; Software Safety in Reuse.

In Progress Thesis: Contracts for Safety, 2009. By nature, compositional software reuse takes a software component out of its intended environment and plugs it into a foreign environment. This change in context can often end in catastrophe as seen in the Therac-25 and Arian 5 accidents. To make transitions in environments safer, I propose that a complete specification be defined for the reuse component using a Design by Contract paradigm. By developing a complete set of specifications and using a design by contract wrapper to enforce these specifications, a user can easily identify the concept and context of a reuse component mitigating any risk of its use in a foreign environment, increasing the software safety of the component..
