Digital Leadership

TECH 62700

In the digital age, technology and data transform every step of the business process, generating a need for new digital tools across all industries and capabilities. Traditionally, an IT department would be tasked with evaluating and implementing these technologies and a marketing department would design and manage an organization’s web profile. Today, however, the number of tools and online platforms available is massive, making it impossible for one department to know or manage it all. As a result, all employees, from all levels and practice groups, have a responsibility to keep up with the latest technology impacting their role. This is one of the key principles of enterprise leadership. Technology innovation leaders and enterprise leaders must be conversant in current and emerging technologies to identify opportunities and create competitive advantage.

This course provides technology professionals with an in-depth understanding of digital leadership, leading digital transformation, and practical skills in the development, management, and strategic use of social media in business and industry. Through various readings, discussions,  and exercises, a digital research project, and a research paper, students become equipped with knowledge and skills to become effective digital leaders in today's global marketplace. Digital leadership involves the strategic use of technology, social media, and other digital resources to achieve the mission and goals of the organization.
